Sultan of Sokoto and Ooni of Ife are my fathers -WIKE

- Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has welcomed traditional rulers from across the country to his state, for their general assembly

 - The governor, while giving his welcome speech, described the Ooni of Ife and Sultan of Sokoto, as his fathers - In his response, the Ooni of Ife thanked the governor for the warm welcome and called for support from Nigeria’s leaders to bring about progress in the nation Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has stated that the Ooni of Ife Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar are his fathers, Channels reports. The governor made his comments on Monday, January 29, at the 9th General Assembly of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, taking place in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

We are so grateful to be the state you have chosen to host this historic national event which is the 9th General Assembly of The National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria. 

“For us in Rivers state, the unity of Nigeria is very imperative and it remains non-negotiable. It is too important to be toyed with. That is why we will always partner with our traditional rulers as we have been doing.” In response, the Ooni of Ife, who is also co-chairman of the council, thanked the governor for hosting the monarchs. He stated: “We thank you Mr Governor and your team for hosting the Nigerian traditional rulers who have come from all parts of the country to discuss on how to join hands with government for the unity and progress of Nigeria. “We are here to see how best we can further cement our togetherness across all the districts within the North and South of the country because unity is all we need. “As matter of fact, our first demand is unity, our second demand is unity and our third demand is unity.” He called for support from Nigeria’s leaders to bring about progress, stating: “We cannot fold our arms, we must work together and join forces with the government.” PAY ATTENTION: Install our latest app for Android, read best news on Nigeria’s #1 news app Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Sultan of Sokoto , Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar laid the foundation for the construction of the Rivers state council of traditional rulers complex. Performing the exercise in Port Harcourt, Sultan Abubakar prayed God to grant Governor Nyesom Wike the strength to continue to deliver development projects to the people of the state. He commended the governor for his commitment to the completion of the ultra-modern traditional rulers complex within six months.
